Why did you design a single-speaker combo?
The challenge arose out of our desire to create a small, portable amp with the sound and versatility typically found only in much bigger units. Given its compact size and weight, the 250 Combo can meet the needs of those who play in different groups and want to use their signature sound wherever they are.

How did you face up to this challenge?
We went for for a single-speaker solution to keep the weight down and we redesigned the open-back cabinet to make it sound more or less identical to a double-speaker unit. The result is a lightweight, manageable combo that, nevertheless, can still produce a huge, warm sound that will take your breath away!

Is the cabinet really that important?
Speakers and cabinets can make all the difference to the sound of an amp. We invested months of our time choosing the right speakers and materials, and resizing the outer shell, all to produce the great sound we succeeded in coming up with.

What type of sound did you want to achieve?
This is a 'no master' two-channel amp. If you know something about the way amps work, you'll also know that this type of amp can produce fantastic tones. The Clean channel, for example, can be voiced from

crisp clean to bluesy and warm, depending on how you adjust the tone, with plenty of headroom for high volumes levels where it starts to produce a wonderfully distorted semi-crunch sound. The Lead channel itself gives you a beautifully creamy sound, rich in sustain and harmonics, and you can also create a range of sounds covering everything from blues to powerful rock. For the first time, playing with a band, you will hear the neck pickup of a Strat with the same definition as the bridge one.

Which type of environments was the 2/50 Combo designed for use in?
It is made for those who need to have a wide range of high-quality sounds on hand for use in rehearsal, recording and TV studios or small clubs. The midrange response is such that the 2/50 Combo always stands out in the mix. It is ready for connection to an additional cabinet and can
also be used as a head together with a more powerful cabinet.

What are some of the other features?
There is a series/parallel Effects Loop that allows you to use the amp in conjunction with any effect in the most efficient way. The full power/harmonics option means you can use the amp at its maximum power of 45W or reduce it to 25W while still retaining the tone of the higher volume settings. Then there are the presence and resonance controls that help you to fine-tune the highs and lows to match the acoustics of the venue where you're playing.
